🏠 Inside a cozy 928 sq ft haven bathed in orange hues and warm glow
Hi everyone! My name is Jflo (@flo.oasis on instagram), and I’m 24 years old. I'm a Medical Laboratory Scientist by day and a content creator by night!
My hobbies include eating, bowling, playing volleyball, and eating some more :)
I also love exploring new places with my beautiful girlfriend and taking photos of our mini adventures.
Floor Plan
I live in a 928 sq ft apartment on the second floor that overlooks a beautiful pond with a fountain, and I do share the space with one roommate.
This apartment includes vaulted ceilings, a mantle, and a very big balcony. I got lucky with a corner unit, so the place also has tons of natural sunlight that you might notice throughout this tour.
Living Room
Starting with my favorite space in this entire apartment!
When I first moved into this apartment, I had absolutely no plan for how the living room would look. But as the months went by, I just added furniture and decor here and there and figured out for myself what looked good and what didn’t.
Fast forward to today, I am so happy with how everything turned out! I have a blend of warm earth tones and different lamps that each have various functions.
For example, my big IKEA arc lamp is a statement piece that acts as my living room overhead lighting, while my donut lamp helps bring more life to my TV stand.
I wanted every angle of my living room to be pleasing to the eye and a treat for guests to look at.
If I could give one piece of advice for decorating your living room, it would be to add decor that makes you smile :)
Give people a glimpse into your life, mind, and personality when they see your space!
Dining Room
My dining room is on the smaller side so I had to be very selective when placing furniture like my table and chairs!
I’m still pleased with how it turned out! I’ve added a good number of lamps to help keep that consistent warm glow throughout the home. My smaller orange lamps especially bring that pop of color that I felt my dining area desperately needed.
In my dining area, I play with a lot of lighter wood tones, as well as chrome accents in some of my lamps, like the floor to ceiling lamp in the corner.
I chose to go this route to pay homage to my childhood home in Michigan, which had different shades and textures of wood. In regards to the chrome, I felt as if the chrome and the wood pieces would contrast and complement each other!
At first, I was afraid of experimenting in this capacity. But now that everything is set in place, I'm so glad I took the risk!
Sometimes, when I’m eating breakfast at the right time, the sun will hit my food and make my breakfast look like the most glorious meal ever - even if it’s literally just cereal!
Outdoor Space
I like to spend time on my balcony watching the sun rise and set. I absolutely love being able to see the glow from the sun throughout the day!
The balcony is home to my four bonsai trees. Well… three and a half (one is on its last legs of life). Ever since I was a young high school student, I have always been fascinated by the process of taking care of bonsai trees and growing them into the miniature trees that their owners raise them to be.
So, when I moved into this apartment, I made it a goal to save up to buy my very first bonsai trees. Since then, I've been studying and watching lots of informational videos on how to give my bonsai the care they deserve!
Adding turf to my balcony has also been a game changer. Sometimes, I find myself taking naps on the soft turf and waking up to birds chirping, it’s such an ethereal feeling :)
Final Thoughts
I live by the mindset that you should choose decor and furniture that makes you feel like a kid again. When putting your home together, focus on what puts a smile on your face and heals your inner child!
You want to come home to a space that makes you happy and that keeps you feeling fulfilled, warm, and cozy!
Lastly, don’t be afraid to experiment! It never hurts to try. Experiment with pieces that you don’t usually gravitate towards or play with different layouts!
Try first and decide later, you never know where your heart will lead you to!
Thanks for joining me on this tour and I hope that you found my tips and tricks helpful 🤗
Best of luck to you and your journey of creating the perfect home!
